Weather

The weather in Divide, Colorado at the end of May can be varied and and unpredictable. That being said, the weather is generally very pleasant running weather with the average temperature ranging from the mid 60s as the high and the mid 40s as the low.

Recommended Gear

Prepare and expect for varied and unpredictable weather! Runners in the 100 mile and 100K should prepare for the temperatures to be colder during the overnight hours. There is always a possibility of rain or snow and runners should plan accordingly. Fortunately, the course is easily accessible to emergency vehicles and the aid stations are relatively close to one another. Please feel free to email us for specific gear recommendations.

Driving & Parking

Colorado Springs: Head west on Highway 24 for 25 miles then turn left on CO Highway 67 South. Continue for 3.8 miles and then turn right into Mueller State Park. Parking for the event will be 1.5 miles along the main road on the right. On the morning of the race, all runners will be greeted at the entrance of Mueller State Park and directed towards parking.

Parking will be located in the Livery/Equestrian and nearby parking lots. All runners will be directed to the appropriate lot. To allow the longer distance runners (100m, 100k) to have access to their vehicles during the race, these runners will be given priority to park in the Livery/Equestrian parking lot. The parking is limited and we ask that runners carpool when possible.

Crew & Pacing

Ultra running is a community sport and we encourage crew and pacers! All distances are allowed crew and are able to access their runners at the Livery (start/finish) and Hart-Lee Homestead aid stations. Each runner will be given one crew pass. This pass must be on display when parked in the Grouse Mt. parking lot for the Hart-Lee Homestead aid station.

Pacing is only allowed for the 100 mile and 100k. 100k runners are allowed a pacer on the last lap or after sunset (8:15PM). 100 mile runners are allowed a pacer at mile 44.4 (Livery aid station). Runners are allowed as many pacers as they like, but only one at a time.

The looped course offers crew convenient access to their runners.

Livery Aid Station is located at the start/finish line and main parking lot.

Flying:

Camping:
Mueller State Park offers 132 campsites and are by reservation only. The various campsites can accommodate walk-in tent campers to full hook-up RVs. There are cabins available to rent within the park. Free dispersement camping is available approximately 20-30 minutes from Mueller State Park.

Things to See and Do

Trails:
Devil’s Playground (664A) to Northwest summit of Pikes Peak: This approximately 14 mile out and back summit of Pikes Peak is one of the most spectacular trails in the Front Range. The summit to “America’s Mountain” is significantly less crowded than Barr Trail and offers spectacular views of the Great Divide course.

The Crags Trail (664): This 4.5 mile out-and-back is popular with families and offers incredible views of Pikes Peak and the Great Divide course! The magnificent rock formations at the turnaround are uniquely stunning and definitely worth the trip.

Breweries:
Bierwerks: Located in Woodland Park. Although Bierwerks specializes in German beers, they have a wide variety of delicious beer. There is usually a couple of food trucks serving lunch and dinner. Indoor and outdoor seating is available.

Paradox Brewing: Located in Divide. Overlooking Pikes Peak, Paradox specializes in sour beers! They offer indoor and outdoor seating.
