Race Day Info

This single loop 35 miler/50k starts in the historic mining town of Canon City, Colorado. Runners’ journeys will begin along the beautiful Arkansas River and travel through the historic granite blasted tunnels along Tunnel Drive. From here, runners will begin their steep climb to the highest point of the course at 7,109’ feet. At the top of the climb, runners will be greeted by the expansive views of the Royal Gorge, Sangre de Cristo Mountains, and America’s mountain; Pikes Peak! After many miles of rolling pristine singletrack and incredible views within the Royal Gorge Mountain Park, 35 mile/50k runners will cross the highest bridge in the United States before making their final descent through Temple Canyon. With only 4,500’ feet of elevation gain, this race will certainly have you feeling your fastest! Join us for this inspiring, late season 35 Mile/50k/35k/10k in “The Climate Capital of Colorado!!”

Registration

Closes on October 30th, 2024. All registrations include:

  • Gender Specific race shirt
  • BOCO Trucker Hat (excludes 10K)
  • Personalized bib and finishers’ award
  • Well stocked aid stations
  • Beautiful and easy to follow course
  • Post-race meal

All aid stations will be very well stocked with Tailwind Muir Energy Gels, banana bread, sweet and salty snacks, fruit, and soda.  All cooking aid stations will also be cooking bacon, quesadillas, potatoes, pierogis and many other warm food options!

Driving & Parking

Start/Finish Line Parking: Parking is available in the many Centennial Park parking lots (blue squares). Additional parking is also available on the north side of the Arkansas River and in the neighboring communities. Blue arrows indicate direction of parking. See the map below for a pinned location to the start/finish line.

Crew & Pacing

Pacing is prohibited. Crewing is available at crew accessible aid stations only. Reference the map below for aid station locations and parking instructions. All aid stations are accessible by 2WD vehicles.

For crew wanting to aid their runner at Temple and Hard Times aid stations, please use Highway 50 to access both locations. DO NOT DRIVE on Temple Canon Rd when traveling from Temple to Hard Times aid station to avoid dusting-out runners as they travel along this road. From Temple to Hard Times aid station along Highway 50 is approximately a 45 minute drive.

Travel & Lodging

Flying
Colorado Springs Municipal Airport: Colorado Springs has the closest and most convenient airport. It takes about 55 minutes to drive from the airport to the event.

Denver International Airport: The Denver airport is not as close as the Colorado Springs airport, but will usually offer more direct flight options. It takes about 2 hours to drive from the airport to the event.

Camping
Royal Gorge Park East Ridge Campground is a beautiful primitive campground within walking distance of the Gorge Aid Station. The nightly fee is $20 and on a first-come-first-serve basis.

Things to See and Do

Trails:
Oil Wells Flat: This spectacular system of trails is to the north of Canon City. Island in the Sky trail runs along a 200′ rim overlooking the Sangre De Cristo Mountains and Canon City! There are many varying loops and levels of difficulty for a pre or post race shakeout!​
