Colorado Cold Rush Ultra is the “coolest” winter running event! Run along historic High Drive and through the amazing tunnels of the Colorado gold rush. Although there is always a possibility of snow, the course is an exceptional route for winter running.

Race Day Info

The race route features diverse terrains and stunning views of Colorado Springs. The 50k course starts at Bear Creek Regional Park, climbing historic High Drive and continuing on Gold Camp Road before turning around at Gold Camp and Old Stage Road intersection. The Half Marathon also traverses historic High Drive. For the 10k, runners explore the lower elevation sections of the Colorado Cold Rush course, with 100% dirt trails and slight technical footing towards the out-and-back section.

The 50k is an out-and-back course that begins at Bear Creek Regional Park. The course climbs historic High Drive before continuing on Gold Camp Road. Runners turn around where Gold Camp meets Old Stage Road. Some of the best views of Colorado Springs can be seen from this beautiful course! Elevation Range: 6,175′ – 9,090′

Pack Pickup

Friday: 4:30-6:00PM at the Colorado Running Company (5262 N. Nevada Ave, #140)

Saturday: Beginning at 6:15AM at Bear Creek Regional Park under the largest pavilion

Registration

Closes on November 27th, 2024. All registrations include:

  • Gender-specific race shirt

  • Well stocked aid stations
  • Beautiful and easy to follow course
  • Post-race meal

All aid stations will be well stocked with Tailwind, Muir Energy Gels, sweet and salty snacks, fruit, and soda. The Cheyenne Canon Aid Station will also be cooking bacon, quesadillas, potatoes and many other warm options!

Driving & Parking

Bear Creek Regional Park is a beautiful Colorado Springs park at the base of the mountains! There is plenty of parking and is convenient and accessible to the start/finish line. Parking attendants and signage will direct vehicles to the north-west section of the parking lot.

Crew & Pacing

North Cheyenne Canon Aid Station:
Accessible by low clearance and 2WD, easy to locate, and within 10 minutes of the start/finish line. 

Gold Stage Aid Station:
Located at the intersection of Gold Camp Road and Old Stage Road. The road, Old Stage Road, to the aid station is winding, narrow and wash boarded at times. There is a high probability of snow. 4WD is highly recommended, but not required. Please use caution while on the road, especially around blind curves.

Travel & Lodging

Flying
Colorado Springs Municipal Airport: Colorado Springs has the closest and most convenient airport. It takes about 20 minutes to drive from the airport to the event.

Denver International Airport: The Denver airport is not as close as the Colorado Springs airport, but will usually offer better flight options and be less expensive. It takes about 90 minutes to drive from the airport to the event.

Things to See and Do

Trails
The Manitou Incline: This very popular and scenic trail climbs 2k in less than a mile. The 2,744 step trail overlooks Manitou and Colorado Springs. Due to the popularity of the incline, free reservations are required.

Barr Trail: Colorado Springs is known for America’s Mountain: Pikes Peak! Barr Trail is a bucket-list adventure that climbs 7,390 feet above Colorado Springs to the summit at 14,115′.

Red Rocks Open Space: This beautiful trail systems offers some of the best views of Colorado Springs, Manitou and Garden of the Gods.

Garden of the Gods: This is one of the most beautiful places on Earth! The amazing rock formations are unique and stunning. The trail and road running is amazing but can be very busy.
